Robson Forensic Medical Device Expertise
Expert: Larry Fennigkoh, Ph.D., P.E.
Evaluates injuries & issues related to:
• Biomedical engineering design
• Medical electrical devices
• Medical instrumentation
• Product applications & warnings
• Human physiology
• Non-medical electrical devices
Dr. Fennigkoh is a biomedical and electrical engineer who has in-
vestigated numerous injuries and deaths associated with a variety
of medical and non-medical electrical devices. Having worked in
hospitals for over 20 years, he understands not only the patho-
physiology of injuries, but also the many ways in which they may be
caused. Dr. Fennigkoh is a professor of biomedical engineering, a
Registered Professional Engineer and is board certified in clinical
engineering.
Expert: Mari S. Truman, P.E.
Evaluates injuries & issues related to:
• Orthopedic medical devices: Instruments and
implants for skeletal trauma/joint reconstruction
• Design safety assurance
• Device performance requirements
• Product warnings
• Biomechanics: Impact & injury
Mari has nearly 30 years experience in product design and
development in orthopedic medical devices, including implants
and instruments. Mari draws on her strong knowledge of design
control processes, failure modes and effects analysis, clinically
relevant tissue loading, design safety assurance including de-
vice performance requirements and warnings, during her medi-
cal device litigation reviews. Mari has qualified as an expert in
biomechanics in various state and federal courts.

Expert: Eric C. Heiberg, P.E.
Investigates product liability cases related to:
• Therapeutic devices: massage beds,
compression cuffs, etc.
• Patient transport devices
• Machinery & electro-mechanical devices
• Exercise equipment
• Consumer products
Eric has a diverse design background that spans the complete
product development cycle. He has taken products from initial
concept through design, hazard analysis, prototyping, testing and
manufacturing. Eric has engineered a wide variety of products,
ranging from electro-mechanical machines to medical devices
and sports equipment. Eric holds three U.S. patents and has two
others pending. He is a P.E. in New York and New Jersey and
has provided testimony for cases in both state and federal courts.
Expert: Jamie R. Williams, Ph.D.
Evaluates traumatic injuries related to:
• Medical Devices: Instruments, Implants and
Assistive Devices
• Premarket & Postmarket Mechanical Testing
• Foreseeable Use and Misuse
• Biomechanics: Impact & injury
• Consumer products
Dr. Williams has the knowledge and experience to analyze the
direction, duration and magnitude of the forces generated in a
given situation in order to determine if the conditions caused the
injury. Her extensive background in tissue biomechanics allows
her to analyze complex cases, while her background in teaching
provides the experience to explain these difficult concepts in an
easily understood way. Dr. Williams has qualified as an expert in
biomechanics in various state and federal courts.
